Flexibility in job design is the future
The world of work is changing. The future of work will look very different even in 10 years time to what it does now. Some jobs will be automated, others will demand more flexibility in terms of how, when and by whom they are done.
Flexibility is the number one benefit cited when looking for a job. Over 45% of the working population seek flexible/part-time working patterns, yet less than 10% of roles promoted at recruitment offer flexible or part-time working options.
Lack of role flexibility is costing the public sector billions
Lack of role flexibility and innovative job design is costing the public sector billions in productivity loss, retention costs, recruitment vacancy fill rates and unnecessary agency spend.
Many public sector organisations have considerable gender pay gaps. Old-fashioned approaches to flexibility in the workplace are stopping employers from making the most of female talent.
Lack of innovation in job design is blocking progress
Powerful new technologies are increasing productivity, improving lives, and reshaping our world. But until now, nothing has been in place to help us innovate how we design and shape our jobs to ensure our jobs, workforce and organisations are fit for the future of work.
The challenge is the organisations’ inability to re-think job design and systematically design and scale role flexibility and operationalise this within the workplace.
